Fitzgerald Avenue is blocked southbound between Hereford and Cashel streets after a three-car crash about 6:30pm.
One vehicle and its occupants reportedly left the scene and Police are making enquiries to locate them.
There are no reports of serious injuries at this stage.
Diversions are in place and motorists are asked to avoid the area if possible.
