Queensland Police Service (QPS) Road Policing Task Force (RPTF) officers have carried out a targeted, high visibility deployment across the Rockhampton District between 20 and 26 April.
The initiative, part of Operation Yankee Interpose, focused on disrupting unsafe road behaviours.
The successful seven-day operation saw additional officers deployed on local streets and highways in both marked and unmarked vehicles to enhance community safety.
During the deployment, officers conducted more than 1,000 roadside breath tests (RBTs) and more than 70 roadside drug tests (RDTs).
During roadside breath testing operations, a 61-year-old Calliope man was charged with drink driving following a traffic intercept on Gladstone Road on Monday 20 April where he allegedly recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.062 percent.
He is expected to appear at the Rockhampton Magistrates Court on Monday 18 May.
More than 180 traffic infringements were also issued throughout the operation.
This included a 32-year-old Gracemere woman, who was issued a $1,919 fine on 20 April for exceeding the speed limit by more than 40km/h on Woodbury Road.
Officers subsequently performed a Roadside Drug Test (RDT), and the woman returned a positive result for a relevant substance.
The woman has been charged with drug driving and is expected to appear in the Rockhampton Magistrates court on 26 June.
Officers from RPTF continue to observe unsafe behaviours on Queensland roads and are committed to holding motorists to account.
Police may be anywhere, anytime.
The Queensland Police Service is committed to reducing the number of lives lost on our roads.
As part of Operation Interpose, police are bolstering high-visibility patrols right across the state, engaging with road users and enforcing the laws to deter dangerous driving behaviours.
Queenslanders can expect police – anywhere, anytime. However, enforcement alone cannot stop all dangerous driving behaviours.
Driving under the influence, speeding, driving distracted or while fatigued, or not wearing a seatbelt puts your life – and the lives of others – at serious risk. These dangerous behaviours will not be tolerated.
Road safety starts with you.
