Lake Macquarie City Council's road upgrade program is forging ahead, with $2.1 million in major improvements now complete on Lake Road at Swansea and a $6 million rehabilitation of Floraville Road underway at Belmont North.

Lake Macquarie Mayor Adam Shultz said the completion of the Lake Road upgrade and progress on Floraville Road highlighted Council's investment in renewing road infrastructure, improving safety and delivering more reliable transport connections for local communities.

"These projects are about creating safer, more reliable roads that serve our community today while preparing for the future," he said.

"Lake Road has been transformed to meet modern standards, while Floraville Road is progressing towards a safer and more accessible corridor for residents, businesses and visitors."

The Australian Government contributed $2.7 million to the Floraville Road project through its Roads to Recovery program, with Council investing the remaining $3.3 million.

The Federal Member for Shortland, Pat Conroy MP, said the Albanese Labor Government was continuing to deliver key upgrades to local roads through its Roads to Recovery program.

"I welcome the ongoing work to complete the necessary improvements to Floraville Road upgrade, which I know will be welcomed by our local community," he said.

"It's great to see the renewal of this important local thoroughfare progressing well, which will ultimately provide a safer and more accessible road for everyone who travels along it."

The projects are part of a broader road renewal program being delivered across Lake Macquarie, with $29 million allocated by Council for road renewal and improvements in 2026-27.

Other major upgrades include the rehabilitation of Deaves Road at Mandalong to improve flood resilience and long-term reliability.

The Lake Road project renewed ageing road infrastructure between The Esplanade and Macquarie Street through pavement reconstruction and widening, localised drainage improvements and intersection upgrades.

The Floraville Road rehabilitation project stretches from Park Street to the Pacific Highway and includes road reconstruction, drainage upgrades, new footpaths and bus stop improvements.

Mayor Adam said it would be delivered across five stages to minimise disruption.

The first two stages, between Park Street and Maxwell Avenue have been completed with the overall project on track for completion in the first quarter of 2027-2028, weather permitting.

Mayor Adam welcomed the Australian Government's contribution towards the Floraville Road project.

"This funding will help Council continue delivering infrastructure upgrades that extend the life of our road network and provide lasting benefits for our community," he said.

"Partnerships between different levels of government play an important role in helping us deliver the infrastructure our growing city needs."
