Roadships and Director Acquitted of Criminal Charges

Robert George McClelland and his companies Roadships Australian International Intermodal Marine Lines Pty Ltd and Roadships Cycclone Pty Ltd were found not guilty in the Downing Centre Local Court on 14 April 2023 of criminal charges relating to ASIC Act notice compliance failures.

The companies were each charged with one count of failing to comply with notices to produce books and records to ASIC on and from 19 December 2019.

Robert McClelland, the sole director of each company at the relevant time, was charged with two counts of aiding and abetting the companies in relation to the alleged failures to comply with the notices.

ASIC had issued the notices in the course of an investigation.

The matter was prosecuted by the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions.

The proceedings were commenced in August 2021 (21-233MR).
