The National Parks and Wildlife Service have acquired funding to undertake road and drainage improvement works in a number of locations across the MidCoast and will include portions of Council roads in their works.
These road projects will involve upgrading and increasing road drainage, improving and raising road surfaces, and enhancing access for both visitors and emergency services. The work will increase resilience to future natural disasters.
The works will be delivered in the Old Bar and Great Lakes area, in the Khappinghat and Myall Lakes National Parks, including Follies Road, Neranie Road, Korsmans Road, Mungo Brush Road, Stoney Creek Road, Bombah Point Road, Yagon Road and Cabbage Tree road.
The works will take place across 2025-2026, with timing and duration weather dependent.
The first works scheduled for 2025 are on Follies Road in the Khappinghat National Park. Works are expected to begin Monday 8 September and take around one month to complete.
Follies Road will be closed throughout the duration of construction, but residents will be able to access their properties. The cycle way will remain open to users, with a potential detour at the start from the Old Bar Road entry.
These works are made possible under the jointly funded Federal and NSW State Government Infrastructure Betterment Program, in association with National Parks and Wildlife Service.
