Rockhampton Regional Council's economic development arm, Advance Rockhampton, has brought together more than 100 stakeholders from across the resources sector, for a new event, to showcase the region as a destination for investment in critical minerals exploration, extraction and processing.

The inaugural Grounded in Growth: Resources of Tomorrow event included presentations from three local projects: QMines in the development stage, Heritage Minerals in the construction stage, and QMAG in the operational stage.

These three projects demonstrate the diversity of critical minerals, critical minerals enablers and base metals deposits in the Rockhampton Region, including gold, copper and pyrite.

Along with a presentation from the Queensland Resources Council, the purpose of the event was to demonstrate the value and opportunities which are already being realised, while promoting the region as a long term destination for resources companies to invest in.

Critical minerals, critical minerals enablers and base metals will also be a key focus for Advance Rockhampton's attendance at the Queensland Mining and Engineering Exhibition (QME) in July.

Quotes attributable to Rockhampton Region Mayor Tony Williams

"Rockhampton has a proud history of supporting mining, particularly Queensland's coal sector, but it was gold mining which initially saw our region grow into what it is today.

"Rockhampton will continue to act as a key support hub for the Bowen and Galilee Basins, but there are many more opportunities for resources companies to come and tap into the wealth of critical minerals found across the Region.

"Through Grounded in Growth and QME, Advance Rockhampton is sending a message - we are open for business and ready to work with projects that will drive economic growth and create valuable jobs for our community."

"The success of QMAG, Heritage Minerals and QMines are showing what's possible when businesses choose to invest in our community, and we're grateful for their continued support of the Rockhampton Region.

"Global demand for critical minerals, critical minerals enablers, precious metals and base metals has never been higher, which is why Advance Rockhampton will continue to highlight the opportunities to be found here and support investment attraction efforts in extraction and processing for the benefit of our Region."
