Just last week, leadership hopeful Eric Abetz was forced to admit in Parliament that the Premier had broken his signature election promise to cap spending on the stadium at $375 million and "not a red cent more".
And we've now learned the Premier has broken another major promise and signature announcement from his own State of the State speech just two months ago, where he declared "Hydro will always remain in public ownership."
It turns out that's not true either. Entura and Momentum, key parts of Hydro, are on the chopping block.
It was just last year that the TCCI said it would be difficult to trust the Rockliff Minority Government ever again after its handling of the Spirits fiasco. How can anybody believe a word that comes out of Premier Rockliff's mouth?
Tasmanians are proud of the Hydro. For the past 100 years, the Hydro has been powering our industries, keeping costs down for households, and helping to pay for schools and hospitals.
Selling the Hydro is unTasmanian. We will not stand by while Premier Rockliff and the Liberals try to sell Tasmania's future.

"Entura is a part of the Hydro organisation. It's not a separate corporate entity." - Richard Bolt, Chair, Hydro Tasmania, to the Joint Select Committee on Energy Matters, 29 April 2025
"[Entura is] not a separate subsidiary, it operates as a department of Hydro Tasmania under the same ABN, with a different trading name. So, the employees are part of the broader business, its revenues, income, and profits are consolidated into the Hydro Tasmania financial statements and are not prepared separately." - Erin van Maanen, Executive General Manager - Strategy, Hydro Tasmania, to the Joint Select Committee on Energy Matters, 29 April 2025
