Royalties Transfer To RevenueWA

Legislation to move mining and petroleum royalty collection and administration functions to RevenueWA has been passed by Parliament.

On 23 June 2021, the Minister for Finance, Tony Buti MLA, announced the transfer of the mining and petroleum royalty collection and administration functions to RevenueWA. The legislation effecting the transfer has been passed by Parliament.

The Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DEMIRS) and RevenueWA are working together to complete the transfer by 1 September 2025. From that date, RevenueWA will be responsible for royalty collection and administration functions, while DEMIRS will retain responsibility for royalty policy.

Mineral and petroleum royalty payers will be unable to access the DEMIRS Royalties Online system from close of business 29 August 2025. In the lead-up to the transition, requests to gain access to the DEMIRS Royalties system will be unavailable from 15 August 2025.

A new Royalties Online system has been developed by RevenueWA and will be accessible from 1 September 2025. Information will be provided on the website and in targeted correspondence about how to access and use this system.
