The Royal Australian Mint is celebrating the fun, friendship and joy of cricket with a new collectible coin inspired by Bluey, featuring much-loved character Rusty.
Inspired by Australia's favourite episode Cricket1, and designed in collaboration with the team at Ludo Studio, the coin captures the spirit of a game that has become part of the fabric of Australian life. Royal Australian Mint Chief Executive Officer Emily Martin said the latest collectible was a playful celebration of two things Australians love - Bluey and cricket.
"Cricket is a little bit like life - sometimes you hit a six, sometimes you miss the ball completely, and sometimes your little sister insists she's not out.
"This colourful coin brings together the fun of cricket with the heart and humour of Bluey, celebrating the friendships, teamwork and memories that make playing together so special," Ms Martin said.
With Rusty at the heart of the design, the collectible coin brings to life the warmth and optimism of the Bluey universe while celebrating the simple joy of getting outside and having a game.
Director of Brands and Licensing, BBC Studios ANZ Sharon Wilson said Rusty was one of Bluey's most beloved characters.
"Cricket remains a fan-favourite episode, capturing the determination, resilience and joy of play that sits at the heart of Bluey. We're thrilled to see Rusty featured on this collectible coin from the Royal Australian Mint, celebrating the magic of backyard cricket and the friendships, family moments and memories that make the game so special," Ms Wilson said.
