Multi award-winning Adelaide gin distiller, Prohibition Liquor Co. is one of 14 South Australian companies to share more than $286,000 in grants from the Marshall Liberal Government to help increase exports into key international markets.
The grants, from the South Australia Export Accelerator (SAEA) program are designed to assist businesses to export for the first time, enter into new markets or to grow their international exports.
Prohibition Liquor Co. is one of 14 businesses to be awarded up to $30,000 to assist with their efforts to establish new export markets in New Zealand, Singapore and Japan.
Prohibition Liquor Co. spokesperson Adam Carpenter said strong growth has seen the business recently invest in bringing all functions together into a larger commercial facility in the Adelaide CBD which encompasses a gin tasting room and retail distillery door, exciting function spaces and a new, in-house distilling and production capacity.
"Our product range is well-placed and well suited for international distribution, with strong shelf presence, premium positioning, and a diverse core range. We also have scores of international awards to support the product quality, with a world-class reputation," Mr Carpenter said.
"Our gin range has won more than 60 local and international awards laying the groundwork and recognition for moving to export markets across the globe. We have also secured trademarks in major international territories to protect our IP for this growth.
"Following investment in our distilling and bottling capacity we're ready to expand our business into international markets, with strategic moves initially towards South East Asia and New Zealand.
"Our first full shipment to Singapore is already on the water and we're travelling over to support the launch in a few weeks' time, with many of their top bars already stocking the product.
"The demographic profile, English speaking population and proximity of Singapore makes it a logical early market for export growth, plus it's a key hub for global business and trends."
Acting Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment David Pisoni said the latest round of grant recipients covers a broad cross section of industries including manufacturing, IT, aquaculture and even education.
"As well as entering new markets, this funding helps companies grow their workforce, as well as enhancing our economic prosperity by creating pathways for local companies to generate two-way trade opportunities.
