SA Seniors Bag $250K: We Never Win Anything

A morning tea outing turned into a windfall for an Angle Vale couple after their Play for Purpose raffle ticket secured them the $250,000 First Prize Pack in Raffle 22.

The winning ticket not only brought them financial security, but also supported a cause close to their hearts - National Seniors Australia.

The First Prize Pack from Play For Purpose Raffle 22, drawn Friday 15 March 2024, features $250,000 in cashable gold bullion.

“Is this for real?! Oh my god, I can’t believe it. We never win anything!” the winning husband cheered when an official from Play For Purpose revealed their newfound fortune.

“We’re at the shops having scones for St Patrick's Day. What a wonderful surprise!

“I saw an ad for Play For Purpose online. I checked that it was a genuine raffle and I saw I could purchase a ticket in support of National Seniors Australia. I thought ‘Well, I’ll have a go at that!’.

“We chose to support National Seniors Australia because we’re both seniors ourselves. We’re finding it a bit tough now, so we wanted to support other seniors in a similar boat.

“Well, lucky me! This is only our second or third time playing too!

“I don’t believe it. I really don’t believe it.

“It’s certainly going to make our lives a lot easier. We’ll help our children out too.

“We’ll get them together after this and tell them the great news.

“Thank you so much. We can’t wait to celebrate and tell our friends.”

National Seniors Australia CEO, Chris Grice was over the moon for their winning supporters.

“It’s fantastic to see another supporter of National Seniors Australia win the major prize in the Play For Purpose raffle,” he said.

“Every time someone buys a ticket and supports the National Seniors Australia cause, it helps us to continue our important work advocating and supporting seniors on issues like Aged Care, Pension Poverty and Cost of Living.”

Other major prize winners were from across Australia, including Wishart in Queensland, Mermaid Waters in Queensland, Chapel Hill in Queensland and Balmain in New South Wales, who won second, third, fourth and fifth prize packages in support of Dreams2Live4, Children’s Hospital Foundation, National Seniors Australia and The Kids’ Cancer Project.

Play For Purpose is a not-for-profit raffle that helps to raise funds for charities and grassroot sports programs in Aussie communities.
