Sad end in search for missing man on Lake Wellington

Water Police have this afternoon located the body of a man following and extensive search on Lake Wellington.

It is believed two men were in separate boats on the lake when one of the boats developed engine trouble about 4.15pm on 19 July.

A 72-year-old Sale man returned to shore in his boat and was taken to hospital for observation.

The second boat with, a 48-year-old Golden Beach man onboard, did not return.

Police located the boat near Tucker Point about 9.30am on 20 July.

An extensive search was conducted by Air Wing, Water Police, Search and Rescue divers, SES, Coast Guard and general duties police.

Water Police located the body of a male, believed to be the missing 48-year-old Golden Beach man around 5pm today.

Police will prepare a report for the Coroner. His death is not being treated as suspicious.
