Safer Communities and Keeping Kids Engaged: $168 000 for October School Holiday Program

The Territory Labor Government is investing $168,000 across the NT to ensure that children and young people engage in fun and positive activities throughout the two-week October school holidays.

There are 294 different activities available across the region including Darwin, Alice Springs, Tennant Creek, Katherine, and Palmerston.

The school holiday program activities are a great opportunity for children and young people to experience new sports, get creative through art and craft activities or go on adventures and learning excursions.

Highlights of the October school holiday activities across the Territory include:

160 activities in Darwin including movies under the stars, unlimited 10-pin bowling, table tennis, 8-ball, circus workshops, and science talks

56 activities in Alice Springs including street soccer, arts, digital art, t-shirt printing, inflatable obstacle course, swimming, and waterslides

33 activities in Palmerston including drop-in night sports, pool party, tie-dyeing, soap making, and an excursion to the Territory Wildlife Park

As noted by Minister for Territory Families, Dale Wakefield

Keeping our children and young people busy and engaged in educational and fun activities is a great way to build thriving and safer communities.

The October school holiday calendar of events and activities is jam-packed for children, young people, and families. The Territory Labor Government is supporting community groups and local organisations by offering funding for youth programs, which includes after-hours and school holiday activities.
