CARVE's safety-rated eyewear is built for work and play, with certified protection and performance lenses for life outdoors.
Australian eyewear brand CARVE is tackling those conditions with a Safety Eyewear range that pairs certified impact protection with performance lens technologies built for real-world environments, giving wearers eyewear that can move easily from the worksite to the hobbies they enjoy outside work.
The range includes polarised lenses to cut reflected glare on the water, photochromatic lenses that transition from clear to grey as light conditions change, and a new G15 green polarised lens designed for bright outdoor environments.
The G15 lens - newly introduced in CARVE's bestselling Volley Safety style with a camo frame - uses a neutral grey-green tint that maintains natural colour perception while enhancing contrast. With 15% visible light transmission, it blocks 85% of incoming visible light, helping reduce glare, squinting and visual fatigue during long days outside.
For water activities, polarised options help cut horizontal glare bouncing off the water's surface. For four-wheel driving, camping or any activity that moves between full sun and shade, photochromatic lenses automatically adapt as available light changes.
CARVE Founder Matt Whyte said understanding how different lenses perform in different conditions has become a crucial part of modern eyewear design.
"Good outdoor eyewear needs to do more than simply make everything darker," Whyte said.
"Whether you're working outdoors, behind the wheel, or around the campsite, glare, changing light and visual clarity make a real difference when you're wearing eyewear for hours at a time.
"We've spent more than 25 years designing eyewear for active Australians and have taken that performance thinking into safety eyewear, combining lens technology, comfort and durability with certified protection."
CARVE's Safety collection includes four styles: Volley, Vendetta, Smoko and Chippy, constructed from high-grade shatterproof polycarbonate frames and lenses.
Each style is certified to AS/NZS 1337.1:2010 for medium-impact protection and ANSI Z87.1+, while all lenses provide UV400 protection, blocking 99.9% of UVA and UVB rays.
That extra level of durability gives the range relevance well beyond the worksite, particularly for people whose weekends can be just as tough on their eyewear.
Outdoor eyewear is exposed to constant wear and tear - dust, debris, accidental drops and the rough handling that comes with tackle boxes, consoles and gear bags.
Whyte said creating eyewear that could comfortably move between work and recreation was a natural progression for the Australian-owned brand.
There's a fitting connection between CARVE's Safety range and the reason the brand began. "CARVE started in 1998 when I was working as a carpenter and kept breaking my sunglasses," Whyte said. "That gave me the idea to create quality eyewear that could stand up to an active Australian lifestyle without the premium price tag.
"More than 25 years later, the Safety range brings that story full circle. They provide certified protection when you need it, but they're designed to look and feel like eyewear you'd genuinely want to keep wearing once the working week is over."
The CARVE Safety Eyewear range has RRPs from $39.99 to $79.99 and is available online and through independent retailers.
