Today, Administrator Samantha Power spoke with Bangladesh Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus. Administrator Power underscored USAID's long standing partnership with the Bangladeshi people and recognized Dr. Yunus for his leadership at a critical juncture for Bangladesh. They discussed ways in which USAID might best support the interim government and the Bangladeshi people's aspirations for a more democratic society, and work together to enhance good governance and human rights, as well as strengthen the country's economy. Administrator Power also emphasized the need to protect vulnerable refugees and enable the work of humanitarian partners providing critical support.
