Santa Teresa Road Tender Award

NT Government

A contract has been awarded to upgrade and seal a seven kilometre stretch of the Santa Teresa Road between chainage 13.37km and 20.30km.

Territory civil company, Aldebaran Contracting won the $7.9 million tender with works to start on the Santa Teresa Road in the coming months.

Approximately 18 kilometres of the Santa Teresa Road has been upgraded and sealed so far, with this portion of the project to be completed in 2024.

The upgrades bring greater economic and social opportunities for regional and remote communities, focusing on all-weather access and ensuring communities have reliable year round connections, whilst improving safety and travel time.

The $7.9 million project to upgrade and seal between 13.37km to 20.30km is a part of the $415 million joint Commonwealth and Northern Territory Government Strategic Roads Package.

The NT Government is working closely with the Commonwealth to deliver strategic road upgrades, ensuring Labor's investment brings the greatest possible benefit to the Territory.

The remaining 42.70 km of the Santa Teresa Road to be upgraded and sealed is planned to be delivered across 2025/26.

Quote Attributable to Minister for Infrastructure, Planning & Logistics:

"Investment in the right infrastructure is key to sustaining the Territory's growth in the long term.

"Sealing roads in the Territory means less wear and tear on vehicles, it improves road safety and efficiency and opens up the Territory for all.

"This tender has gone to a great Territory business who will deliver strong economic and social outcomes providing reliable connections and supply chains all year round.

Quote Attributable to MP for Lingiari, Marion Scrymgour:

"This is great news for our Ltyentye Apurte (Santa Teresa) community. For too long this road has been in a bad shape - making it hard to access the community, visit family, and come into town for shopping and health services.

It was great to be able to announce the sealing of this road as part of my election commitments as the local Member. The Federal Labor and Northern Territory Government are delivering major infrastructure upgrades right across the Territory."
