It's the ultimate foodie road trip and now there's dates to diarise –
the famed Scenic Rim Farm Gate Trails will be held on
Sunday April 2 and Saturday August 26
The Scenic Rim Farm Gate Trail is a very special day, when the farmers, growers, producers, winemakers, brewers, distillers and flavour-makers across the region open their gates for a day celebrating where food comes from.
"There's nothing quite like standing in the paddock that was home to food just tasted, or touching the vines that produced wines just sipped, or shaking the calloused hand of a farmer whose joy in your visit shows in the width of their smile. This is what the Scenic Rim Farm Gate Trail is all about," said organiser and CEO of Destination Scenic Rim, Christelle Moller.
From cuddles with lambs at Towri Sheep Cheeses to fresh produce straight from the paddocks of local farms, picnic selfies with alpacas, stocking up on artisan dairy products and learning more about dairy farming at Tommerup's Dairy Farm to beer and ice cream tasting at Scenic Rim Brewery, flower picking at Elderflower Farm, wandering the vines at the region's vineyards, buying mushrooms, olives and fingerlimes just picked from paddocks you can see, visitors leave with full stomachs and a love for the Scenic Rim region, its produce and its people.
Already a record number of farmers, growers and producers are taking part on April 2. There will be at least 25 open gates with visitors able to immerse themselves in Scenic Rim life, fill their empty eskies, talk to famers and understand more about where their food comes from.
The Scenic Rim continues to gain fame as the home of extraordinary experiences, flavours and adventures. In 2022 the region was named by global travel authority Lonely Planet as one of the hottest destinations to visit, and this year delicious. magazine has it in their top 10.
At just over an hour from both Brisbane and the Gold Coast it's the perfect day trip, or weekend away!
