The Cook Labor Government has approved a scheme amendment in Mosman Park that will pave the way for a vibrant, mixed-use residential precinct.
Scheme Amendment No. 9 to the Mosman Park Local Planning Scheme No. 3 has been supported, enabling the future redevelopment of 60 McCabe Street, currently home to disability service provider Rocky Bay Pty Ltd.
With Rocky Bay announcing its relocation, the site presents an opportunity to deliver higher density dwellings in a well-connected, high-amenity location, close to public transport, local jobs and services.
The scheme promotes the retention of urban canopy, respects the site character and aims to deliver vibrant public open space.
The amendment will reclassify the land from the Social Care Facility reserve to a Residential zone, with density codes of R40, R60, and R160.
It also allows for consideration of uses such as a cafe, restaurant or community facilities, subject to further planning and approvals.
The site's proximity to the Swan River, Victoria Street train station, local shops and Fremantle, makes it an appealing location for development.
Following extensive community consultation and planning assessment, the amendment ensures that future development will be sensitive to surrounding low-density housing while enabling innovative and flexible design outcomes.
