The Tasmanian Government is delivering on its commitment to expand the role of community pharmacists and improve access to healthcare for Tasmanians.
Minister for Health, Mental Health and Wellbeing, Bridget Archer, said applications for postgraduate scholarships are now open to help Tasmanian pharmacists gain full scope of practice credentials.
"On World Pharmacists Day in September, I announced that our Government would support pharmacists to train and provide treatment for more common health conditions than ever before, and that's exactly what we're delivering," Minister Archer said.
"I'm pleased to confirm that initial scholarships will be made available to Tasmanian pharmacists to receive their full scope of practice credentials.
"The first scholarships are expected to be available in early 2026, aligning with course enrolments and, based on uptake, additional scholarships may be made for future enrolments.
"We're helping Tasmanians deal with the challenges they face, and once trained, pharmacists will be able to assess and manage a range of common health conditions such as ear infections, reflux, rhinitis, and skin conditions including shingles, eczema and wounds."
Applications are now open, with the treatment of additional conditions expected to commence from late 2026, once the first pharmacists complete their training.
Successful applicants will receive up to $7,000 to assist with training fees, with $3,500 available at enrolment and $3,500 available upon successful course completion.
