Scholarships for nursing and midwifery students

The Chief Nursing and Midwifery Office at the WA Department of Health offers a range of scholarships for nursing and midwifery undergraduate and postgraduate students studying in Western Australia.

The Semester 2, 2021 scholarship round for Undergraduate (Initial Registration) and Postgraduate scholarships, including the Rhonda Marriott scholarship, is now open. Applications close 11.45pm, 9 July 2021. The outcome of applications will be advised in August 2021.

The scholarships can help applicants to:

  • become a nurse or midwife
  • advance their knowledge and practice in their chosen area of specialty
  • progress their career.

The scholarships program is part of the Department's commitment to building workforce capacity and capability. Scholarships are awarded based on current and projected workforce requirements and for areas of high clinical need. Priority is given to WA Health employees and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants.

Scholarships are now granted for one academic semester only and as such, the scholarship will only cover Semester 2, 2021 studies. Students will need to reapply for subsequent semesters of study. The scholarship funding no longer covers a student for the full academic year.
