Search commences for missing manin Brisbane River

Police have commenced a search for a man believed to have entered the Brisbane River at St Lucia this morning.

Just before 4am this morning, emergency services were called to Macquarie Street where police believe the man entered the river.

The man is described as having a large build and has not been seen since.

Police immediately commenced land-based searches of the river bank as swift water crew searched the river.

Water Police and a number of land-based crews are continuing the search this morning.

Anyone who may have observed a man in the river is asked to contact police immediately.

Additionally, residents and businesses in the vicinity of Macquarie Street are asked to check any CCTV footage that may be able to further identify the man.
