Search for man and vehicle after Coburg theft

Police have released an image of a man and a vehicle they are hoping to identify and locate following a petrol theft in Coburg earlier this month.

The man attended a service station at the intersection of Bell and Elizabeth Streets about 5.15pm on Tuesday, 6 March.

While there he has filled his vehicle, a silver or grey Toyota sedan, with petrol and then driven off without paying.

It's believed the vehicle had stolen number plates attached to it at the time of the offence.

The car also has significant panel damage to the roof and a cracked front windscreen.

Police have released a CCTV image of the man and the vehicle in the hope someone can provide information regarding his identity and current whereabouts, as well as the whereabouts of the car.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
