Search On for Missing Couple in NW Tasmania

Police are continuing to search for a missing South Australian couple in the state's North West.

Resources including police search and rescue personnel have been deployed to the area on Thursday for a second day of searching for 79-year-old Peter and 81-year-old Clementina.

The couple left the home of relatives they were staying with in Milabena about 2.30pm on Tuesday afternoon (18 August) to go on a day trip exploring the Burnie/Ulverstone and Penguin areas and failed to return as planned that evening.

Inspector Anthea Maingay said the couple are believed to be in their vehicle, a silver Honda CRV with SA registration (S744ACB) and could be in the Penguin, Gawler, Gunns Plains area.

"Yesterday the search concentrated on checking local tourist spots and we are following up every possible lead to bring them home to their family."

"We have deployed search and rescue resources to the area again today, including the Westpac Rescue helicopter for aerial support, and land searches including vehicles and quad bikes" she said.

Peter is of solid build, grey hair, glasses, no facial hair and 5'4-5'6 in height. He was wearing New Balance sneakers, navy blue hoodie, navy blue trackies when last seen by family.

Clementina is of solid build, with grey hair and glasses, 5'4-5'6 in height. She was wearing a green sherpa-lined hoodie, blue or black pants and black lace-up shoes when last seen by family.

Anyone who may have seen the missing couple or their vehicle should contact police on 131 444. Please quote ESCAD 469-18082026.
