Search suspended for missing rock fisherman - Timber Beach

A search operation for a man who went missing while fishing off rocks at Timber Beach has been suspended.

About 10.30am today (Sunday 7 July 2019), emergency services were called to Timber Beach, Snapper Point Road at Moonee, following reports a rock fisherman had fallen into the water.

Police have been told a 60-year-old man was fishing with two other people, when he fell off the rocks. It is believed he was wearing a life jacket at the time.

A multi-agency search operation took place involving officers from Tuggerah Lakes Police District, Marine Area Command, Police Divers, PolAir, Police Rescue, Surf Life Saving NSW and the Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter.

Despite an extensive search of the water and surrounding land, the man was not located, and the search was suspended at 5.30pm.

A multi-agency search operation is due to resume at 7am tomorrow (Monday 8 July 2019).
