Sec. Damoff to Represent CA at UN Peacekeeping Meet in Ghana

Today, the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs, announced that Pam Damoff, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs (Consular Affairs), will represent Canada at the United Nations Peacekeeping Ministerial (UNPKM) meeting on December 5 and 6, 2023, in Accra, Ghana.

Building on previous ministerial meetings, the 2023 UNPKM, hosted by Ghana, will be a key opportunity for Canada to collaborate with UN member states on key priorities to support and enhance the effectiveness of UN peacekeeping operations. Parliamentary Secretary Damoff will engage with international partners on several priorities, including advancing the Elsie Initiative for Women in Peace Operations, the implementation of the Vancouver Principles on Peacekeeping and the Prevention of the Recruitment and Use of Child Soldiers, and specialized training support to peace operations.

While in Accra, she will also meet with international partners, UN officials and Ghana's foreign minister to continue collaborating on key peace and security priorities.
