Taskforce Falcon detectives have charged a second man over the alleged kidnapping of murder victim Marvin Oraiha in Sydney's west.
About 4pm on Monday 22 May 2023, emergency services were called to Hertfordshire Street, Elizabeth Hills, following reports of a shooting.
On arrival, officers attached to Liverpool City Police Area Command located a 24-year-old man suffering several gunshot wounds.
Despite the efforts of police and NSW Ambulance paramedics, the man died at the scene.
He has since been identified as Marvin Oraiha.
Liverpool detectives – with assistance from the Homicide Squad – commenced inquiries before State Crime Command's Criminal Groups Squad took carriage of the investigation under Strike Force Hackenburg.
Strike Force Hackenburg was previously overseen by Taskforce Magnus and now Taskforce Falcon.
Detectives have charged five people with the murder of Marvin Oraiha. They remain before the courts.
Investigations identified that before Mr Oraiha was fatally shot, he was kidnapped by an Organised Criminal Network (OCN) months earlier on Wednesday 31 March 2023.
It will be alleged that Mr Oraiha was detained overnight at a unit in Belfield, during which time demands for payment of a ransom were made.
A 27-year-old man has since been charged with kidnapping offences and remains before the courts.
Following extensive inquiries, about 5.40pm yesterday (Thursday 6 August 2026), a 27-year-old man was arrested at Bankstown Police Station.
The 27-year-old was charged with take/detain in company with intent to ransom occasion actual bodily harm and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.
He was refused bail to appear at Bankstown Local Court today (Friday 7 August 2026).
Investigations under Stike Force Hackenburg continue.
