A woman has been charged as part of an investigation into an alleged fatal stabbing in Wollongong last year.
About 3.20am on Sunday 17 August 2025, emergency services were called to a unit on Crown Street, Wollongong, following reports of a stabbing.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated a 28-year-old man at the scene for stab wounds to his chest and taken to Wollongong Hospital in a critical condition. He was later transferred to St George Hospital for further treatment.
A crime scene was established, and officers attached to Wollongong Police District established Strike Force Alcalde to investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident.
On Saturday 23 August 2025, police were notified the man had died in hospital.
He has since been identified as Brandon Yates.
Following extensive inquiries, about 6.30am today (Wednesday 10 June 2026), police executed a search warrant at an address in Wollongong and arrested a 41-year-old man.
He was taken to Wollongong Police Station where he was charged with murder and remains before court.
About 10.45am, police arrested a 30-year-old woman at Nowra Police Station.
She was charged with murder, do act intending to pervert the course of justice and two counts possess prohibited drug.
She was refused bail and will appear before Bail Division Court 3 tomorrow (Thursday 11 June 2026).
