Second person charged over serious assault at Waterloo, NSW

A second person has been charged over the alleged serious assault of a man at Waterloo earlier this year.

Detectives from Redfern Local Area Command established Strike Force Hardware to investigate the death of a man following an alleged assault on Saturday 19 August 2017.

It’s alleged the 53-year-old was injured during a domestic incident at his home on John Street in the early hours of the morning.

Inquiries have revealed the man was earlier seriously assaulted during a home invasion on Friday 2 June 2017.

During that incident, it’s alleged a man and woman forced entry to a unit on McEvoy Street and assaulted the man with a hammer, causing serious injuries.

Following inquiries, detectives executed a search warrant at a home at Petersham just on Wednesday 18 October 2017.

A 19-year-old woman was arrested and later charged with special aggravated break and enter to commit serious indictable offence (wound), NSW Police say.

She is currently before the courts.

Following further inquiries, detectives arrested a 20-year-old man in Silverwater yesterday (Thursday 2 November 2017).

He was charged with special aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence (wound), and was bail refused to appear at Central Local Court today (Friday 3 November 2017).
