Second Teen Nabbed in Melbourne Stabbing Case

Greater Dandenong Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested the second boy wanted following an assault and stabbing in Melbourne's south on Friday evening.

The 16-year-old, who has now been interviewed and charged in relation to the incidents in Keysborough and Dingley Village, handed himself into police on Saturday.

The Kingston teen has been charged with armed robbery, two counts each of intentionally cause injury and theft from shop, theft and common law assault.

The charges follow two incidents on 13 June:

• In the first incident two boys allegedly assaulted a man in a chemist at a shopping centre on Cheltenham Road in Keysborough, on 13 June about 4.55pm. The victim, a 70-year-old Dandenong North man, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

• In the second incident a 16-year-old boy was waiting at a bus stop in Centre Dandenong Road in Dingley Village when he was allegedly approached by what is believed to be the same two boys about 7.15pm. The Dingley Village teenager was then stabbed in what is alleged to have been an unprovoked attack. The boy was transported to hospital with serious injuries.

As part of the investigation detectives also attended an address in Bonbeach on Saturday 14 June and arrested a 19-year-old man.

He was taken to hospital for treatment for an injury believed sustained during one of the incidents. He is currently under police guard and will be interviewed by detectives once released.

The teenager who handed himself into police on Saturday has been remanded in custody to appear before a children's court today.
