Prahran Highway Patrol has proven once and for all that police will eventually catch up with you, in Southbank last night.
A man is expected to be charged on summons after allegedly evading police and failing to stop on police direction.
Officers patrolling Spencer Steet caught sight of a white Holden utility allegedly driving at a fast rate of speed and engine revving loudly about 11pm.
An attempt was made to intercept the Holden and the driver allegedly refused to pull over, taking off and evading police.
Despite a thorough search of the area, the Holden was not located.
A short time later, police responded to reports of a white Holden utility suspiciously loitering on Kings Way in Southbank about 11.30pm.
Police arrived on scene to find two males in the vicinity of the Holden.
It is alleged that the number plates had been removed from the vehicle since it was seen on Spencer Street.
A 20-year-old Darley man, alleged to be the driver of the Holden, produced an alleged evidentiary breath test reading of 0.078.
He is expected to be charged on summons with drink driving and fail to stop on police direction.
