Securing your load keeps others safe!

A 52-year-old woman has been fined for failing to secure her load properly, after a ladder fell off the back of a trailer and almost hit a police officer travelling behind her.

Just after 4pm on October 5, a Highway Patrol officer noticed a ladder that was not secured properly in the back of a trailer being towed by a Toyota Kluger on the Mount Lindesay Highway at Tamrookum, in the Scenic Rim.

A short time later, the ladder fell out the back of a trailer and landed on the side of the road, just metres in front of his motorcycle.

The officer pulled over the driver and the female driver was issued a traffic infringement for $309 for driving a vehicle when load is not secured.

Queensland Police are reminding motorists transporting any kind of load in their vehicles or trailers, that they must restrain their loads correctly.

If the load isn't tied down correctly, it could endanger other road users, you, your passengers, or even damage road infrastructure.

People should ensure the items are properly restrained, don't overhang dangerously, don't exceed mass limits and don't cover lights, indicators, reflectors or the number plate.
