Come one come all to the inaugural Council Expo at the Mullumbimby Civic Hall on 13 October 2026.
The aim of the Expo is to show the breadth of services Byron Shire Council provides to residents.
From roads and bridges to waste collection, parks and sports fields, water and sewer, libraries, environment, pet ownership, planning and childcare; staff will be on hand to talk about their work and answer questions.
It's also an opportunity to talk to staff and Councillors about the proposed Special Rate Variation (SRV).
"It's no secret that cost of goods and services has risen steeply over the last five years and for an organisation like Council, that means that our ability to maintain infrastructure like roads and bridges, parks, pools and libraries in the future is really challenging," Mark Arnold, General Manager, said.
"An SRV would allow Council to generate additional money so that we can continue to provide the services and facilities our community deserves," Mr Arnold said.
"Some of the feedback we have received from people in relation to the SRV is that they don't feel they receive any benefit from paying their rates and we are hoping the Expo will show them all the things we do," Heather Sills, Manager Corporate Services, said.
The Expo will go from 3pm to 6pm. Everyone welcome! Come and meet our staff and Councillors.
Information about the SRV is on Council's Your Say page.
