Senate candidate visiting MIA today

Australian Conservatives Release

Australian Conservatives' Senate candidate Sophie York is visiting the NSW city of Griffith today.

The Coleambally Observer reports, Ms York is on a regional tour which also includes Bega, Goulburn, Gerroa and Newcastle and says she "wants to bring back commonsense".

"Around the world, Australia is renowned for being lovely: straight-talking, laid-back people, who generally treat each other well,"

she said.

Ms York said she believed there were restrictions being placed on freedom of speech and that British heritage was no longer emphasised.

"They're not being taught that the British heritage gave us equality before the law, parliament, literature, manners, music and engineering," she said.

The Australian Conservatives Party was founded by Senator Cory Bernardi.

Ms York will speak and host a question and answer session at the Exies Sports Club at 1pm this afternoon, Wednesday,

April 24.
