Senior Official Lewin At G7 Development Minister's Meeting

Department of State

Yesterday, Senior Official for Foreign Assistance, Humanitarian Affairs and Religious Freedom, Jeremy Lewin attended the G7 Development Minister's Meeting in Washington to discuss mobilizing private industry and capital to drive durable global growth, efforts to reform multilateral institutions, and greater burden sharing on shared security and humanitarian priorities. Building on President Trump's and Secretary Rubio's historic reform of wayward U.S. foreign assistance programs, Senior Official Lewin encouraged partner governments to prioritize efficient and targeted development programs that bypass the NGO industrial complex, catalyze private investment, advance strategic imperatives, offer a competitive alternative to debt trap diplomacy, and secure stable access to critical supply chains and minerals.

Senior Official Lewin reiterated that the United States views the G7 as an important forum for continued cooperation on key humanitarian, development, and security challenges.
