Community groups are being encouraged to host an event celebrating older Corangamite Shire residents during the 2026 Victorian Seniors Festival in October.

The theme for this year's Victorian Seniors Festival is 'connect, create and celebrate' which brings a positive message that encourages people to learn, connect with others and to live their best life.

Council Co-Ordinator Positive Ageing, Access & Inclusion Belinda Rowbottom said Council was standing by to help promote enjoyable and memorable events, for seniors, by seniors.

"We'd love to see you hold an event that will celebrate being an older person and encourage seniors in our community to participate and enjoy themselves," Mrs Rowbottom said.

"It's about growing in experience, connecting with others and having some fun.

"It a great way to let the community know about your group, which can be promoted as part of the Corangamite Shire Council's Victorian Seniors Festival promotional campaign.

"Your group are in control of the event and its planning, including the date, venue, catering, and any entertainment.

"Council will promote the events in a printed programme which will be distributed around the Shire and email directly to 30 community groups.

"Details of each event will also be listed on our website at corangamite.vic.gov.au/Events."
