Serious assault investigation at Maroochydore

Police are investigating the serious assault of a man in Maroochydore early this morning.

At around 1.25am this morning (December 19) a man was located with serious head injuries on Main Road, Maroochydore (intersection of Toombra Street).

The 50-year-old Kuluin man was transported to Sunshine Coast University Hospital before being transferred to the Royal Brisbane Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

Police are appealing for anyone who left the Maroochydore Hotel around 1am or was in the vicinity of the premises to come forward.

Detectives are also requesting anyone travelling past the location between 12am and 2am who may have dashcam footage or saw anyone walking in the vicinity to contact police.

Investigations are continuing.
