Midland Detectives have charged a man in relation to a serious assault incident in Swan View overnight.
Around 8.30pm, a verbal dispute occurred between a man and woman who were known to each other, outside a residential premises on Buckingham Road in Swan View. It will be alleged, the male punched the female to the back of the head causing her to fall to the ground. The assault continued on the ground and a neighbour, a man in his 60’s attempted to intervene between the parties. It will be alleged, the man punched the neighbour to the face, rendering him unconscious and causing him to fall backwards and hit his head on the road., WA Police say
It will be further alleged that the man returned to the woman, who was still on the ground, and began kicking her and hitting her with a wooden implement. Other family members of the man attempted to stop him and he fled from the scene.
St John ambulance offers attended the scene and took the man in his 60’s and the woman to hospital.
As a result of the assault, the man in his 60’s received a fractured skull, broken nose and a possible fractured cheek. The man is continuing to receive treatment.
The woman was treated for bruising to her torso.
The man was arrested by police around 11pm nearby.
A 31 year old man from Swan View has been charged with the following offences:
•Aggravated Grievous Bodily Harm
•Aggravated Assault with Intent to do Grievous Bodily Harm
•Aggravated Assault Occasioning Bodily Harm
He is due to appear in Midland Magistrates Court tomorrow, Monday 18 June 2018.
