As stated by Detective Inspector Geoff Baber, Tasman District Police:
A homicide investigation has been launched following the deaths of two people in the Buller region yesterday.
At around 7:50am, emergency services were called to an address on State Highway 7, Rahu Saddle following concerns for a person.
Upon arrival, a person was located deceased at the property.
Further enquiries were carried out and when visiting another address on Maimai Road, another person was located also deceased.
We do not believe there is any risk to public and we are not seeking anyone else in relation to this incident.
Members of the community may notice an increased Police presence while we continue to gather information to establish exactly what occurred.
We acknowledge people will be understandably shaken following this incident. We are providing support to the loved ones of those who died and the wider community.
Police will release further information when it becomes available.
