Seselja not to be trusted on housing affordability

Australian Greens

The ACT Greens have today said that Zed Seselja's call for land to the West of the Tuggeranong town centre to be developed benefits no one but the ACT Liberals real estate donors', and noted that the idea is immensely unpopular with Canberrans and local First Nations peoples.

Statements attributable to Dr Tjanara Goreng Goreng, ACT Greens candidate for the Senate:

"Destroying the environment and important sites of First Nations heritage will not make houses more affordable. Building affordable public and social housing and scrapping handouts to property developers and speculators, including negative gearing and franking credits, will."

Statements attributable to Johnathan Davis, Greens Member for Brindabella:

"I appreciate Senator Zed Seselja's enthusiasm to pack even more constituents into the community I'm proud to serve, however as the Greens member for Tuggeranong I am committed to advocating for the protection of valuable green space."

"I will continue to resist the Canberra Liberals' continuous attempts to push our community out further into suburbia, away from services and facilities."

"A big part of the appeal of living in my community is our relationship to adjacent bushland. My community expects me to fight for it's protection and that is exactly what I intend to do."
