Sexual assault charges laid against military member in Kingston, ON.

On January 25, 2019, the Canadian Forces National Investigation Service (CFNIS) charged a member of the Canadian Armed Forces with sexual assault under the Criminal Code. The charges relate to reported incidents between September 2015 and May 2017 in various location in Ontario and Quebec. The complainant is another member of the Canadian Armed Forces.

Officer Cadet Cody Carter, a member of the Royal Military College in Kingston, ON. faces the following charges.

  • Three (3) counts of Sexual Assault under section 271 of the Criminal Code.
  • Two (2) counts of Assault under section 266 of the Criminal Code.

On January 21, 2019, the complainant reported incident to the Military police Detachment in Kingston. Given the nature of the complaint, the file was transferred to the CFNIS who immediately assumed investigative responsibility.

The matter is now proceeding in civilian Justice System. The accused first appearance at Kingston Court House, in Kingston, ON. is scheduled to be on February 27, 2019.
