Detectives have charged a man following investigations into an alleged sexual assault in Brisbane City.
Police will allege between 3am and 4.50am on 2 May, a 49-year-old Riverview man sexually assaulted a 16-year-old girl in the vicinity of Turbot Street and Wickham Terrace near Central Station.
The matter was reported to police later that day and extensive investigations led to the location and arrest of the man in Riverview on 5 June.
The man was subsequently charged with one count each of rape and sexual assaults.
He was remanded in custody and is expected to reappear before Brisbane Magistrates Court on 15 June.
As part of ongoing investigations into the incident, police are urging for pedestrians or drivers who were near Wickham Terrace and Creek Street, Brisbane City between 2.30am to 5.20am on Saturday 2 May, to come forward.
Specifically, police are appealing for two potential witnesses, depicted in new CCTV footage, to please come forward. The people shown in the CCTV are not believed to be involved in the alleged offence.
The first person is described as a male wearing cream-coloured pants with a black jumper. He was last seen at 4.40am on Wickham Terrace, near Central Station.
The second person is described as a male wearing white shoes, and a white, black and blue jumper with a black cap. He was last seen at 2.57am on Adelaide Street in Brisbane City.
Investigations are ongoing.
