Lebanon is experiencing rapid population ageing, creating new challenges for public policies, social and health services, infrastructure and local development. On 3 September, ESCWA and the WHO Lebanon Country Office, in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Affairs in Lebanon, organized a consultation to support the development of the Lebanese Guide on Age-Friendly Cities and Communities.
The consultation brought together heads of municipal unions and representatives of selected municipalities to review local realities and identify key challenges, opportunities, priorities and needs related to age-friendly cities and communities.
Participants shared their views, feedback and recommendations to help ensure that the guide is practical, applicable, evidence-based and tailored to the Lebanese context.
