Shellharbour Airport Begins Vegetation Management

Works commencing: Monday 28 April 2025 (weather permitting)

Duration: Approximately 5-7 days

Location: Public spaces near Albion Park Train Station, including Rotary Park and Railway Park

Vegetation management works are commencing near Albion Park Train Station, including Rotary Park and Railway Park to ensure ongoing aviation safety and compliance with Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) regulations which govern Shellharbour Airport.

Shellharbour City Council has developed a Vegetation Management Plan addressing the encroachment of trees in the operational airspace of the airport defined by the Obstacle Limitation Surface (OLS).

Works are scheduled to start on Monday 28 April, taking 5-7 days to complete. Council has engaged All Round Trees & Garden Care Pty Ltd for these vegetation management works.

As part of the environmental approval conditions, Council is replanting 10 trees within Rotary Park and 50 along the adjacent creek line. In addition, further planting will occur in local bush regeneration areas with two new plants for every one removed.

To ensure public safety during the works, temporary fencing, detours, and signage will be in place, with traffic controllers available to assist with pedestrian and vehicle movement if required.

Access to the Rotary Park public toilets will remain available via the carpark, while entry from the Princes Highway will be temporarily closed. No disruptions to public transport, road, or rail access are expected.
