Shoalhaven Water has taken out the top accolade at the recent NSW/ACT tap water tasting competition. The judging was held, and announcement made this week at the annual Water Industry Operators Association of Australia (WIOA) conference in Tamworth.

Shoalhaven was shortlisted from a long list of competitors to a final top three, alongside Tamworth Regional Council and Port Macquarie-Hastings Council. Judges undertook blind taste tests on the samples from each water utility, which were judged on colour, clarity, odour and mouthfeel. Shoalhaven was declared the winner and will now head to the national championships later in the year.

The award is very popular and hotly contested at the Conference, with operators from all over NSW and ACT taking pride in the product they deliver to their communities.

This is the second win at State level for Shoalhaven Water, after taking out the top honours in 2019.

Shoalhaven City Council's Mayor Amanda Findley said she was delighted to hear the announcement.

"I'm extremely proud of our Shoalhaven Water operators who have faced some challenging times of late dealing with varying water quality in our raw water source, the Shoalhaven River. They have worked hard and managed to finetune the treatment processes to maintain a high-quality product," said Mayor Findley.
