The AEC has become aware of a sign outside of the Springdale Heights polling place that is of concern to the AEC.
This sign has an incomplete authorisation statement on it and has the potential to misrepresent the source of the corflute. At this stage, the AEC is not aware of more than one of these signs being displayed but continues to investigate the matter.
While the AEC continues to investigate, the AEC would like to be clear that the AEC is not the author of this sign in any way. While it includes information from the AEC's Transparency Register, the AEC did not erect or authorise the signage.
The AEC has no power under the Commonwealth Electoral Act 1918 to immediately remove or seize the sign but we are urgently considering our legal options.
