Silent Pandemic

World Vision

Hi there,

I'm hoping this story is of interest to you. It's about how COVID has significantly worsened the mental health of children living in war zones or refugee camps, whose mental health was already very fragile.
A World Vision survey has showed a huge increase in mental health needs for children in these settings and highlighted the lack of services available.

We surveyed almost 500 children in six conflict-affected countries, that found almost three quarters (70%) of children in refugee or internal displacement camps needed psychosocial support - more than three times the 22% before the COVID-19 pandemic – and more than half (56.5%) of all children interviewed expressed a need for some sort of emotional support, which was well over double the amount before the pandemic.
