State Highway Patrol Solo Unit members are expecting to lay charges against a probationary driver after they spotted a car allegedly exceeding the speed limit by 77km/h in Oak Park yesterday afternoon.
Police observed the AMG Mercedes CLA43 travelling at 137kmh in a 60km/h zone along Pascoe Vale Road around 3.15pm.
It only got worse for the driver when it was revealed that the vehicle he was driving was a prohibited vehicle for probationary drivers.
Police impounded the Mercedes for a period of 30 days at a cost of $896.10.
The 20-year-old Broadmeadows man is expected to be charged on summons with speed dangerous, exceeding the speed limit and other related-traffic matters.

The state-wide operation aims to reduce road trauma, including the number of lives lost and injuries on our roads. During this time motorists can expect to be breath tested and drug tested, have their vehicles scanned and be checked for speeding.
The operation involves all available personnel including local road policing units, general duties, other operational policing units and centralised resources from Road Policing Command.
Operation Roadwise runs from 12.01am Friday 18th December 2020 until Wednesday 6th January 2021.
