The 2025 Sir John Monash Awards celebrated more than 70 people who are doing incredible things in the Monash community.
Over 200 people joined award recipients, Monash Mayor Cr Paul Klisaris and MC Rana Hussain at the Alexander Theatre at Monash University in Clayton to recognise winners across 11 different categories.
Each category highlighted stories of people giving back to the Monash community, either through a project or initiative, service to a community group, club or organisation, or providing advocacy, mentorship and leadership.
Dr Natasha Brusco received the Volunteer of the Year award and the overall Outstanding Leadership award, acknowledging her work providing children with disabilities with free and inclusive gymnastics programs at George's Gymnastics Program at Waverley Gymnastics Centre in Oakleigh
George's Gymnastics Program improves children's physical wellbeing, confidence and sense of belonging. Natasha's leadership has cemented the program as a flagship model for inclusion and provided a platform for growth in the years to come.
When opening the event Monash Mayor Cr Paul Klisaris talked about how the awards inspire him.
"I am fortunate to be part of the committee who review the nominations, and every year I am inspired by how many people are focussed on improving the lives of others here in Monash.
"I hope by the end of this evening, everyone in this room will walk away with that same inspiration, warmth in your heart and a smile on your face," said Cr Klisaris.
