Several major projects could be kickstarted later this month when Council considers a range of tenders at its Ordinary Monthly Meeting.
Lighting tenders for the Alma Oval and the O'Neill soccer oval will go before Council this month, along with tenders to design and construct the city's new $730,000 skate park, and complete the refurbishment of Queen Elizabeth Park.
Council's Acting General Manager, Jay Nankivell, said it was an exciting time for both the community and Council.
"As an organisation we've taken a much more thorough approach to major projects in the last few years, and we're now at a point where we're going to see projects start to roll out from a really solid foundation of planning and preparation," he said.
"We know the community expects better delivery of major projects and we believe our improved focus on planning, design, and engagement will hold us in good stead in this regard.
"It's a very exciting time for local families and sports groups who are keen to see long overdue upgrades for community assets and sporting infrastructure, and also for staff who have been putting in the preparation work and are looking forward to seeing projects come to fruition.
"The Councillors and the State and Federal Government should be commended for their ongoing support of past and present projects."
Mayor Darriea Turley AM said the new projects would complement other recent projects that have either been completed or are currently underway.
"We've upgraded parks, built and rebuilt roads, embraced smart technology and green energy, relaunched strategic marketing for tourism, committed $14 million to improved footpaths, and much more," said Mayor Turley.
"We know that no Council is perfect, but I believe all our Councillors and staff are committed to doing their best to improve Broken Hill, and they should all be proud of their efforts.
"I look forward to seeing this latest suite of projects begin to roll out once we finalise the tender processes at the March Council meeting."
