The City of Casey is moving into the next stage of its Smart Casey journey, unveiling the Smart Casey Program 2026-2029 with a four-year action plan to harness data, digital technology and innovation to help create more liveable neighbourhoods.
Building on the success of the Smart Casey Launchpad, which delivered more than 60 initiatives over the past four years, the new program outlines practical projects designed to enhance social, environmental and economic outcomes across the municipality.
City of Casey Mayor, Cr Stefan Koomen said the program was strongly informed by community feedback, as well as collaboration with local business and industry, to ensure projects address those things that are most important for the Casey community.
"Casey set an ambitious agenda in 2021 to use technology, data and innovation to improve everyday life. Four years on, we've built strong foundations and delivered real outcomes for our community," Cr Koomen said.
"Smart cities can help us tackle complex urban challenges by leveraging data, new technology and innovative ways of thinking," he said.
"This next phase has been shaped by what our community has told us, and it reflects our commitment to using technology in ways that genuinely improve people's lives."
He said Council will continue to work closely with residents, businesses and partners, including through Living Labs and the Casey Conversations engagement platform.
"As we deliver the program, there will be ongoing opportunities for our community to be involved and help shape the future of Casey," Cr Koomen said.
The Smart Casey Program 2026-2029 focuses on six key areas, including designing smarter parks and public spaces, creating data-driven insights, shaping local innovation, applying emerging technology and building digital skills for all residents.
